Sales Year to Date – Weekly

About this chart

This chart counts the homes that closed so far this year, for the whole ARMLS market, all areas and all dwelling types, measured every week. Each point is the number of closings from January 1 up to that week, so each year’s line climbs from zero, and comparing the lines shows whether this year is running ahead of or behind earlier years.

Each year has its own line, laid out by week of the year (each Saturday), so you can compare this year with earlier years at the same point in the season. It opens on the last four years; tick any year back to 2001 in the Year panel.

Hover over a line to see the exact figure for that week.

Year to Date Dollar Volume

About this chart

This chart shows dollar volume: the total value of the homes sold each year since 2011, from residential deeds recorded by Maricopa and Pinal Counties, with every year cut to the same months (January to the latest month recorded), so the current year can be compared fairly with earlier ones. Because it is built from recorded deeds, it covers every recorded sale, not just homes listed on ARMLS: new homes, private sales, and investor deals are all included.

It opens on Maricopa and Pinal Counties with everything included. Narrow it with the County, City, and ZIP panels, the Transaction Type, Property Type, and 55+ Communities boxes, and the sale price slider.

The records run to the end of last month and are updated monthly. Hover over a bar to see the exact figure for that year.

New Home Closings Year-to-Date By Builder

About this chart

This chart ranks home builders by the number of new homes they closed in Maricopa and Pinal Counties. It is taken from recorded deeds, so it counts every builder closing, not just homes that were listed on ARMLS.

Each year is counted from January to the latest month available (shown at the top of the chart) so that years compare like for like. It opens on the current year; tick more years in the Year panel and their closings are added together. Data goes back to 2011.

Builders are named as the brand that sells today, so homes closed by a builder that was later acquired count under the buyer. “Other” collects the smaller builders and closings whose deed does not identify the builder.

Narrow the count with the County, City, ZIP, Builder, Property Type, 55+ Communities, and Sale Price controls. The list scrolls; Print and Download Image show every builder.

Multi-Family Permits – Year-to-Date Counts

About this chart

This chart shows the number of multi-family homes (apartments, condos, and other units in buildings with more than one home) authorized by building permits, from the US Census Bureau’s Building Permits Survey. Each bar is one year’s total from January to the latest month published, with every year cut to the same months, so the current year can be compared fairly with earlier ones.

It opens on Arizona with Maricopa and Pinal Counties and every city and town in them, from 2017 onwards. Choose any US state from the State list, pick counties and places, and use the Date range control to look back as far as 1996. The most recent month available is shown under the title.

Permits are an early sign of new construction, so this shows how much new multi-family housing is on the way. Hover over a bar to see its value.
